Tasty! WINTER SOUP REPAIR February 14th, 2023

Week #3: Scrumptious Split Pea Lentil Soup

Don't let all the spices deter you. This soup is really easy to make and completely satisfying, whether you enjoy a vegetarian, or gluten-free, or omnivore diet. Special thanks to Bonny for introducing me to this farro and split pea combination! It has been a big hit at many gatherings and it's exciting to share it with you today.


You will need a big pot and will need to pre-soak the farro and split peas for 8 hours before cooking this soup.

  • 1/2 C pre-soaked farro

  • 1 C pre-soaked split peas

  • 1/4 C brown rice

  • 1/2 C dried green lentils

  • 1 med onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 3 carrots, diced

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tbsp parsley

  • 2 tbsp dried onion

  • 1/4 tsp cumin

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

  • 1/2 tsp sage

  • 1/4 tsp each: basil, rosemary, thyme, oregano, marjoram

  • 4 C vegetable stock

  • 4 C water

  • 2 C kale, chopped with tough ribs removed


1) Heat oil in large pot and cook onions, carrots, and garlic until onions are translucent.








2) Add spices and cook another 30 seconds.








3) Add stock, water, all grains and lentils. Bring to a boil and simmer 45 minutes.









4) Add kale and cook another 5 mins and serve!
